In many things there are certain standards that are set so that those things accomplish their purposes and do it as safe for human interaction as things could possibly get. That means from food to technology, to qualifications of workers are supposed to follow the standard that has been set for them.
For works in varying
fields of work, being qualified as a professional is important. Either having
the required approved licensure in the field of work or measures of assurance
to ensure the worker is qualified in doing such work.
If jobs like a healthcare
worker, a teacher or an engineer would require you a license to be able to
perform those jobs legally and with certification, for there are also professional
fire safety qualifications.
There are various
organizations that uphold professional fire safety qualifications such as:
- The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) is a professional body of highly respected individuals and companies who all share the same objective. Which according to them is to "To raise the awareness of fire safety at a local, national and international level, promoting fire prevention, fire protection and reducing the risk from fire as far as reasonable practicable".
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is a UK-based independent examination board delivering vocational qualifications in health, safety & environmental practice and management.
- The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is a British organization for health and safety professionals. The Institution is an independent, not-for-profit organization, originally called the Institution of Industrial Safety Officers when formed in 1953.
Having the basic
training and understanding about fire safety is necessary for everybody at
workplaces and recommended for those at home. However for those who are
responsible or assigned as a fire marshal having a professional qualification
for fire safety may be good.
