UK Fire Safety Regulations Training Consultancy

For many things acquiring training is one thing, but giving training and advice yourself is another.

To be qualified to some tasks like ensuring fire safety, following regulations and training are necessary. However those who are going for the application aren’t the only one required to follow regulations, the ones who also give the training and information for stuff like fire safety also have their own set.

October 2006 the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 stated that the Responsible Person must carry out a Fire Safety Risk Assessment and based on that assessment take appropriate action to minimize risks.
Responsible Person are those who are assigned or responsible for a business premises, it is their moral and legal obligation to fulfill and make sure the office or establishment or workplace follows the fire safety standards set by the law.

For one thing training the trainer has some guidelines in doing so. And here are some of the expected qualities that they receive after training:

  •          Confidence in delivering fire safety training and handling any questions that the delegates raise during the course.
  •          A greater awareness of the hazards of fire.
  •        An understanding of the nature of fire and how it spreads.
  •          An understanding of human behavior in a fire.
  •          Knowledge of current fire safety legislation.
  •          Understanding of the actions to take in the event of a fire.
  •          The ability to distinguish between the different types of fire extinguishers and the fires for which they are suited.
  •          The ability to tackle small fires with confidence.

Making sure that the trainers are competent and that they follow the standards of Fire Safety is just essential for they will be the source of knowledge and training for the other person who requires fire safety training. It is essential that whoever gives the fire safety training should be qualified and assured that they will provide the proper knowledge and training.

Professional Fire Safety Qualifications

In many things there are certain standards that are set so that those things accomplish their purposes and do it as safe for human interaction as things could possibly get. That means from food to technology, to qualifications of workers are supposed to follow the standard that has been set for them.

For works in varying fields of work, being qualified as a professional is important. Either having the required approved licensure in the field of work or measures of assurance to ensure the worker is qualified in doing such work.

If jobs like a healthcare worker, a teacher or an engineer would require you a license to be able to perform those jobs legally and with certification, for there are also professional fire safety qualifications.

There are various organizations that uphold professional fire safety qualifications such as:

  •          The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) is a professional body of highly respected individuals and companies who all share the same objective. Which according to them is to "To raise the awareness of fire safety at a local, national and international level, promoting fire prevention, fire protection and reducing the risk from fire as far as reasonable practicable".
  •          NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is a UK-based independent examination board delivering vocational qualifications in health, safety & environmental practice and management.
  •          The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is a British organization for health and safety professionals. The Institution is an independent, not-for-profit organization, originally called the Institution of Industrial Safety Officers when formed in 1953.

Having the basic training and understanding about fire safety is necessary for everybody at workplaces and recommended for those at home. However for those who are responsible or assigned as a fire marshal having a professional qualification for fire safety may be good.
