Fire incidents have been one of the most common occurring incidents in workplaces and at home and it doesn’t matter where you live, it strikes anywhere and anytime. And if you are unprepared for fire incidents it may be your unfortunate undoing.

Employers are supposed to assure that the workplace is up to standard and they have people that are appointed for fire safety. As a matter of fact, it is the employer’s legal responsibility to ensure that according to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Fire safety trainings can be time consuming and requires the one appointed to it to travel. Fortunately nowadays it has been increasingly popular that the training can be done through online of course as long as where you are getting the training from is certified by the organization that upholds the standards of fire safety.

For fire safety training here are the things that you have to take note of:
  • Identifying the flammable materials and substances that exist in the workplace
  • Identifying the different kind of fires and how to extinguish it
  • Proper use of equipment and tools for fire fighting
  • Learning the appropriate response and procedures in the event of a fire incident.
  • Assessment of the workplace environment


Also make sure to follow the latest standards and guidelines for fire safety and regularly update your risk assessment of the workplace.  For it is not enough that your employees just had the fire safety training you have to make sure that the training they had are up to standards. For not only there may be new information but also much more efficient ways and emerging technologies for firefighting.

Remember that employee training, work environment assessment and gearing for fire safety may have its costs and time but considering how dangerous fire incidents are these little things may save lives.
